Exhibition of photographs by Vytautas Pletkus invites you to see Kaunas' bridges in a different way

In the cafe of Kaunas National Drama Theater (Laisvės avenue 71) until March 18th the exhibition "bridges of Kaunas" by Vytautas Pletkus will be open. According to the artist, the theme of bridges is not incidental, it is an urban intervention into the environment of the city. In many of the photographs a coalescence of a river, shore and a bridge can be seen merging with shadows and colours. The shape of the bridge, the architecture, the geometric tone becomes the axis of the composition. the photographs by Vytautas Pletkus in a way merges two convetionalities of photography. Art critic Tomas Pabedinskas says: "on the one hand, his photographs seem to have rational compositions of correct architectural bridge shapes, evocative of the searches of modern art, space and 3D objects projected onto flat surface. On the other hand, with these strict compositions the photographer finds as if from the 18th century's pictorialistic photographs merging through the fog and mingling with the rays of dawn or dusk."

Aesthetics is a very importnt part in V.Pletkus' photographs, they pop out with their precise  lines and definition. In this collection of photographs "Bridges" the author shows us the abstract shapes of bridges and brings your attention to the shore in mist.

The procession of patriotically spirited youth in Kaunas on February 16th

There were different opinions of this procession of Kaunas' youth, some said that this is a good expression of love to Lithuania and Kaunas, others, however, called this a "fascist" act.

10 am Holy Mass at Christ's Resurrection Church (Žemaičių st. 31A, Kaunas) Participating: "Neris" choir of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences.
10 am Holy Mass at Church of Saint Michael the Archangel (Garrison Church) (Nepriklausomybės sq. 14A, Kaunas)
11 am movement of Kaunas' students, pupils and social organisation's workers walking from Christ's Resurrection Church and Church of Saint Michael the Archangel (Garrison Church) to the garden of Vytautas Magnus Museum of War. The movement will be lead by the orchestra of J.Gruodis Conservatoire of Music.
11 am - 4 pm  In the garden of Vytautas Magnus Museum of War, a free educational event - painting on water "Drawing Freedom" by the Art therapy and socialising institute VYTA.
11.40 am A musical performance with bells by Julius Vilnonis in the garden of Vytautas Magnus Museum of War.
12 am Celebratory commemoration, ceremonially raising of the flag of the Order of Vytis' Cross, ceremonially oath of junior officers' course captains, putting of flowers in the garden of Vytautas Magnus Museum of War.
1.40 pm  celebratory initiative "Bells of Freedom" and a concert in the garden of Vytautas Magnus Museum of War by "Rugiaveidė", "Božolė" choir and Jonas Čepulis & band.

3 pm Folk Art concert in Kaunas center of Culture "Tautos Namai". Participating: "Ainiai", "Suktinis", "Šeltinis","Pušynėlis".
